Lower Ganga Basin Organisation (LGBO) is one of the thirteen regional organisations of the Central Water Commission. It is a field unit of the River Management (RM) Wing. The organization is headed by a Chief Engineer who is assisted by Superintending Engineer (Co-ordination). The Organisation consists of one Hydrological Observation Circle headed by Superintending Engineers at Varanasi, one Monitoring & Appraisal Directorate headed by Director at Ranchi and one Monitoring Directorate cum Hydrological Observation Circle headed by Director (Monitoring), Patna.
