Central Water Commission (CWC) is a premier technical organization of India in the field of Water Resources and is presently functioning as an attached office of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India. In order to achieve better results in the water resource sector and have better co-ordination with the State Government Departments, CWC has established thirteen regional offices called field organizations, each headed by a Chief Engineer. Narmada Basin Organisation (NBO) is one of the thirteen regional organizations of the Central Water Commission. It is a field unit of the River Management (RM) Wing of CWC.

  • The organization is headed by a Chief Engineer who is assisted by the Superintending Engineer (Co-ordination), Director (Monitoring & Punasa Design), Director (Monitoring & Appraisal- Bhopal) and Director (Monitoring & Appraisal- Raipur).
  • The jurisdiction of NBO covers the Catchment area of Narmada River and its tributaries in the States of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
