​​​​​​​Organisational Structure (Upper Ganga Basin Organisation)

The Organization is headed by a Chief Engineer who is assisted by a Superintending Engineer (Coordination).

The Organisation consists of:

(i) Two Hydrological Observation Circle.

  • Monitoring & Appraisal Directorate, Lucknow headed by Director, consisting of one Division
    • Middle Ganga Division-I, Lucknow.
  • Hydrological Observation Circle, Dehradun headed by Superintending Engineer, consisting of two Divisions.
    • Middle Ganga Division-II, Lucknow.
    • Himalayan Ganga Division, Dehradun.

(ii) Two Monitoring & Appraisal Directorate. 

  • Monitoring & Appraisal Directorate, Lucknow.
  • Monitoring & Appraisal Directorate, Agra.

Jurisdiction :

The jurisdiction of Upper Ganga Basin covers the States of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. As regards the Hydrological Observations & Flood Forecasting on the river basins, UGBO deals with the upper reaches of Ganga Basin (excluding Yamuna Basin) upto Dalmau, including the main Ganga River and its tributaries Ramganga, Sharda, Gomti, Rapti, Ghaghra etc.
