Organization contains following Directorates and their activities are as under:

1. Water Bodies& Economics Directorate:

   This directorate is responsible for appraisal & processing / preparation of comments/ observations on the DPR/proposals of various state governments., received from the Regional offices/Field units of CWC under the scheme Repair, Renovation & Rehabilitation (RRR) of Water Bodies during the XII Plan, processing and recommendation of the proposal to MoWR, RD & GR for the release of the 1st installment/2nd installment for the water bodies which were approved/included during XI/XII plan scheme of RRR of Water Bodies and prepare a model DPR format for RRR schemes.
   The directorate will also deal in Water Pricing aspects, namely, Guidelines for Determination of water pricing for various uses, status of water pricing in the country and Guidelines for volumetric measurement of water for pricing etc.

2. External Assistance (EA) Directorate:

   EA directorate is responsible for appraisal and monitoring of externally aided major and medium irrigation projects, organizing & conducting review meetings of externally aided major and medium irrigation projects, participating in supervision/mid-term/special/implementation review missions of external funding agencies, such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) etc., participating in review meetings of Ministry of Water Resources and Department of Economic Affairs, MOF, reviewing quarterly progress and status reports on externally aided projects and preparing technical reports/notes, review aid memoirs/supervision reports/desk review reports of funding agencies, and providing assistance to the State Governments. For preparation of project proposal for obtaining external assistance for Water sector projects. It also conduct Screening Committee meeting for selection of arbitrators for the panel of arbitrators maintained in the CWC for examining disputes arising out of the works contracts between states and the contractors and nominating arbitrator for the Board of Arbitrators for the purpose.

3. National Projects Directorate:

   Director (NP) is responsible for appraisal and monitoring of national projects, and it works as the Secretariat of High Power Steering Committee for implementation of National Projects.
