Introduction to Special Package for Maharashtra

“Special Package for completion of Irrigation Projects to address agrarian distress in Vidarbha and Marathwada and other chronically drought prone areas of Rest of Maharashtra”

Proposal

• Central Government will provide CA @ 25% of the balance cost of these 91 projects as on 01.04.2018 as well as 25% reimbursement for the expenditure incurred during 2017-18 keeping in view that funding of these projects is under consideration since 2017-18.
• Arrangement of State share to be borrowed by the State shall be made through NABARD within their FRBM limit for implementation of these projects.

Aim of Proposal

Aim of proposal is to seek the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs for sanctioning the special package of Rs. 3831.41 crore as CA to complete 83 Surface Minor Irrigation (SMI) projects and 8 Medium and Major Irrigation (MMI) projects in suicide prone districts in Vidarbha , Marathwada and Rest of Maharashtra region of state Maharashtra.
