Studies for reducing the gap between Irrigation Potential Created & Irrigation Potential Utilized
Total 37 projects in the state of Maharashtra have been declared completed under AIBP. The details in the requisite format as sought by CWC, New Delhi has been obtained in respect of 36 projects. The study is being carried out coupled with comprehensive field visits to the project to take stock of the ground situation and to focus on finding viable solutions and corrective action required to bridge the gap between IPC & IPU and to get prepared implementable proposals by state government to actually bridge the gap of each project. So far 10 projects have been visited. Meanwhile a new scheme namely ‘Incentionsation Scheme for Bridging irrigation Gaps (ISBIG)’ is under consideration in DoWR, RD & GR with the objective of assistance to such schemes so as to reduce the irrigation gap. Government of Maharashtra have sent few of the above schemes along with others to DoWR for inclusion in the new scheme.
